Daily Football Tid-bits: Nine Dynamo Kyiv Players Test Positive For Covid-19.
Dynamo Kyiv seem to be experiencing a mini pandemic of their own. Nine of their players have tested positive for Covid-19, shortly ahead of their clash in Barcelona on Wednesday. These players include goalkeepers Georgiy Bushchan and Denys Boyko, defenders Vitaly Mykolenko and Oleksandr Karavaev and midfielder Mykola Shaparenko among others. In an official statement by the club they stated "Due to positive COVID-19 tests, a number of players will not be able to help the team in Barcelona." Dynamo Kyiv are also missing captain Serhiy Sydorchuk due to suspension after receiving a red card and Mykyta Burda, Oleksandr Tymchyk and Vladimir Kostevych through injury. This has put their game in doubt as they will be travelling to the Nou Camp with 13 players meaning, one more absentee would mean it would need to be postponed. The Ukrainians currently sit 3rd in group G of the Champions League, just ahead of Ferencvárosi TC due to goal difference. Though they are unlikely to qualify through their group, ahead of Juventus and Barcelona, they could make the Europa League. This may severely hinder their push for 3rd place as they have only grabbed 1 point from 2 games in their tough group. With 13 of their squad members sitting at home, on the couch, this may be too big of a mountain for them to climb in Catalonia.
