Gabriel Agbonlahor Doesn't Think Grealish Should Go To Manchester City
Jack Grealish has been linked with every top tier English club for multiple seasons. Tottenham, Man United and Man City have all been reportedly interested. After Aston Villa slapped an 80 Million pound price tag on their playmaker, the interest seems to have cooled in the last couple of months.
Manchester City have since apparently reignited interest in the Englishman. Pep Guardiola has urged his board to sign Grealish regardless of the 100 Million Pound price tag. The Man City manager has discussed the need for a squad overhaul with his side underperforming in the Premier League this campaign. Despite very well reported interest in Lionel Messi, Guardiola has faith that Grealish is the one to add creativity to his squad.
After a failed summer move to Old Trafford in September, he signed a new contract with increased terms as the Villains were desperate to keep a hold of their star man. The new deal also states that he cannot leave the club unless an offer upwards of £100 million is available.
Grealish has been one of the best playmakers in the league for some time now. This season alone, he has recorded 4 goals and 5 assists in just 8 games. He already looks likely to eclipse his last season’s tally with 8 goals and 6 assists.
Even though he is touted as one of the hottest players in the whole of the League, Gabriel Agbonlahor doesn’t believe the possible transfer would be beneficial for either party. Speaking to Football Insider, Agbonlahor said: “Jack Grealish got into the England squad by playing regularly in his favored position for Aston Villa. When you go to Man City you’re not guaranteed to play in your best position. “Man City have got Raheem Sterling, Ferran Torres, Riyad Mahrez, Kevin De Bruyne, Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva. They’ve got so many players that I’m not sure Jack [Grealish] would be playing every week.” Gabriel Agbonlahor doesn’t truly believe the transfer rumor.
Agbonlahor is also said “You hear about all these comments but Pep Guardiola has not come out and said it to anyone, you’ve not heard Kevin De Bruyne say anything.” Considering that De Bruyne is probably the best playmaker in the world, who possesses rarely seen vision, passing range and accuracy, it is hard to imagine that Grealish would be able to hold down a spot in the squad.
The former Villa striker implies that Jack Grealish has earned himself a spot in the England squad may lose it if he isn’t playing consistently. It is well known that Gareth Southgate has an unique favoritism for Mason Mount, Jack Grealish can not pick a move that will stagnate his career if Mount carries on progressing. Grealish needs to play regularly if he wants to continue to be competitive, a move to the Etihad may not be the right decision.
