Daily Football Tid-bits: Ansu Fati Suffers Injury That Requires Surgery

Ansu Fati suffered a torn Meniscus in Barcelona’s 5-2 victory over Real Betis. Fati suffered the injury in a tough challenge from center-back, Aïssa Mandi shortly before half-time before being withdrawn.

The 18 year-old is now set to have an operation on Monday, after which Barcelona said they will release further details about the possible length of his absence. A club statement read: "The first team player Ansu Fati will undergo surgery [on] Monday for the injury to the meniscus in his left knee by Dr. Ramon Cugat under the supervision of the Club's medical services.

Fati has played 69% of all Barça’s minutes this campaign, 86% of which came as a starter, and he’s been directly involved in 33% of the Blaugrana’s goals. He has 4 goals and 1 assists to his name from just 7 La Liga appearances.

Fati one of Barcelona’s most outstanding players this season, he holds the crown of top scorer this season with 4 goals in 7 appearances along with creating the second most chances in the squad with 9, only behind Lionel Messi. He has also attempted 28 dribbles this campaign, only the Barcelona captain has more with 48. Fati had been called up to the Spain squad for this month's international matches against the Netherlands, Switzerland and Germany. This injury could be detrimental to the youngster’s development, in many ways, this was his breakout campaign.
